This 1963 Fender Precision Bass is the bee's knees. Super lightweight at 7.8lbs and very resonant. This bass has the classic P-bass sound. Original veneer board/clay dot neck with the original frets. The finish started out as Olympic White and at some point the bass was painted blue over the white. The blue finish was subsequently removed and the white was sanded enough to reveal the beautiful ash body underneath while retaining a (now very faded) blonde finish. The finish under the guard is see-through blond, ala a Tele or Mary Kaye. The finish was then topped with a thin coat of clear years ago and then played for years to achieve the patina it has today. The pickup is '70s with gray bobbins. One of the bobbins was rewound here at CVG. The bass has been setup with flats and it plays great. The "C" neck is a joy to play and the tone could definitely be described as, "Reference."
The bass comes with two cases: The original brown tolex case in poor shape and a late '60s black case in great shape.
