If you want an ES-335 because you are a Clapton fan, then a stoptail 1964 example like this is what you are looking for.  Neck shapes change throughout the different periods, and many would agree that this particular neck shape, much like certain periods of 1959, is the most comfortable .The nickel plated patent sticker humbuckers, found in 1963/64, are a transition from PAF's, with most of the same ID thanks to the wire used. Factory stop tails are preferred for their sustain, as opposed to Bigsby examples.  You really would be hard pressed to find a more versatile model than the 335, and this example has all the right ingredients with only minor modifications (like previous Grover rototmatic tuners).
