In 1962, the ES (Electric Spanish) semi-hollowbody guitar series was still a fresh addition to the lineup, with the ES-355 reigning as the top-tier model. Unlike the more familiar ES-335, the 355 boasted an ebony fingerboard, upscale gold hardware, intricate binding, and beautiful inlay work. It also came equipped with the innovative stereo Varitone system—a feature players often removed in the ’70s and ’80s, either for a bit of weight relief or because they didn’t realize that “1” was the bypass position. Today, the original stereo Varitone models are gaining a new wave of appreciation for the unique tonal flexibility they bring, letting you explore your pickups' range far beyond the usual tone knob roll-off. This ES-355 is a gem: it retains its original PAF humbuckers, stereo function, and factory-installed tremolo. It’s had the saddles and switch tip replaced and was rewired with original parts to restore the correct volume knob orientation. Comes with its original hardshell case, ready to be cherished and played.
