Included in the Mt. Rushmore of classic British amps is the Hiwatt Custom 100, or DR103. This is the same model and era David Gilmour used with Pink Floyd, both live and in the studio. These amps excel whether you bridge the channels or plug into one side to take advantage of their massive clean headroom. The amp is in very good condition, with only minor signs of previous wear
The filter caps date to late 1972, placing this in the early Hylight era, under close supervision by Dave Reeves. These are among the most desirable and collectible Hiwatts, and this particular amp was wired and initialed by Reeves’ head builder, Harry Joyce - indicated by his signature at the top of the amp. The wiring is true military-spec, and among the finest ever found in a guitar amplifier.
This amp is largely original, with only two changed grid resistors on the power tube sockets. Otherwise, it remains stock—including all of the original Mustard coupling caps. See photos for further details.
Despite being fully functional the buyer should note this amp has long expired electrolytic capacitors. Should someone need prolonged or gigging use from this piece then servicing would be advised.
