This Fender Deluxe Reverb is a transition-era piece, built shortly after the Blackface amps were updated to the new Silverface design. It features the "Drip-Edge" aesthetic, which is a piece of aluminum trim around the front grillcloth, along with the AB763 circuit. The chassis and cabinet have been slightly modified to accommodate a larger power transformer, resulting in slightly elevated plate voltage and potentially a bit more headroom—please see chassis photos for details.
Internally, the power cord and electrolytic caps have been replaced. The tremolo optocoupler has also been updated, with an anti-ticking cap added to smooth out operation. Otherwise, the rest of the preamp remains original. The speakers have been swapped for a pair of 1971 CTS Alnicos, and the amp delivers a beautifully clean tone that’s right at home for classic country.
