This 2011 Aleyas LA-5 is a beautifully handcrafted A-style mandolin built by West Virginia luthier Lee Chapman, whose instruments are prized for their exceptional craftsmanship and richly voiced tone. Finished in a stunning Sunburst Varnish, it features a carved Red Spruce top, figured Maple back and sides, and hand-voiced tone bars that produce a warm, balanced sound with plenty of clarity, projection, and chop. The comfortable radius fingerboard and smooth speed neck make it an effortless player, equally suited to bluegrass, old-time, and beyond.

In good condition, it shows only minor playwear and signs of use, with plenty of fret life remaining. The speed neck was likely added by a previous owner and gives the instrument an exceptionally fast, comfortable feel. Outfitted with an engraved James tailpiece, adjustable ebony bridge, bone nut, and Grover tuners, this LA-5 comes complete with a hardshell case and represents a rare opportunity to own one of Lee Chapman's sought-after mandolins.
