Fender Super Reverb 1970, Black

The Fender Super Reverb is one of the company's most iconic amplifiers, known for its powerful 4x10 configuration reminiscent of the legendary '50s Bassman. This 1970 example started life as a Silverface model but has since received a Blackface-style makeover, with replacement front and rear control panels and grille cloth. Interestingly, the original reverb tank bag has also been replaced with a piece of carpet (yes, you read that right!), which does a surprisingly good job of keeping things secure. Also, the upper and lower back panels have been replaced.

Internally, the power cord, electrolytic capacitors, and screen grid resistors have been replaced. All of the plate resistors have been updated to modern metal-film equivalents, while the original coupling capacitors have been swapped for Orange Drops. The rectifier and power tube sockets have also been replaced. Please see the circuit photos for further details.

Fortunately, all of the original 1970 Schumacher transformers remain intact, helping deliver the big, full-bodied sound that Super Reverbs are known for. Overall, this is a great player-grade example with plenty of vintage character!
