This Super Axe is in awesome condition, and with its beautiful red mahogany finish, it absolutely looks the part. If you’re familiar with these guitars, you already know what makes them special: the built-in phaser and compressor effects.
And while onboard effects from this era might sound questionable at first, Gretsch genuinely got it right here. The phaser and compressor are surprisingly musical and highly usable. The compressor delivers that desirable squeezed, character-rich response, while the phaser captures a classic, Phase 90-style swirl with great depth and movement.
With the effects bypassed, you’re left with smooth, creamy humbucker tones and excellent sustain. Interestingly, these guitars feature very slim neck profiles and an almost flat fingerboard radius, yet they play exceptionally well and inspire confidence in hand. Comes with the original hard-shell case (OHSC).
