Gretsch GG199TW Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird 2012, Western Orange

The 2012 Gretsch Billy Bo Jupiter Thunderbird is finished in Western Orange and is based on the unusual design originally created by Bo Diddley. The model is closely associated with ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons, who has used Billy Bo guitars extensively, including custom examples based on the same distinctive shape. The chambered construction and dual TV Jones humbuckers give this guitar a broad, articulate sound, while the Bigsby adds some extra range to the design. With its angular body and Western Orange finish, this is a particularly recognizable example of Gretsch’s take on the Billy Bo.
