While several amps from 1967 share similar specs, the "Black Flag" reverse logo configuration is widely regarded as the definitive JTM50. This model marks a key transition in Marshall’s evolution, blending characteristics of both the JTM45 and the later JMP series. It retains the JTM45-style preamp while pairing it with an EL34 power section, delivering a stout 50 watts. A notable feature of this particular amp is the presence of the rare 784-128 Drake output transformer, used exclusively in JTM50/Park50 amps. While unmarked, the distinctive hole pattern in the bell housing confirms the model. It also has a thin layer of lacquer over the top, for reasons unknown.

Both rectifier variations can be found during this period, and this amp came factory equipped with a rectifier tube. Although the socket has been replaced, the original yellow-and-black filament wiring confirms it was built this way by Marshall.

Internally, the filter caps have been changed, along with the rectifier and one power tube socket. Three coupling caps have been swapped for modern equivalents (in the phase inverter section), but the preamp is otherwise stock. The original chassis sheet has mostly disintegrated, but a small portion still remains. Please see photos for a more detailed description.

This amp perfectly embodies the classic AC/DC sound, aligning closely with the specs of the one used by Angus Young in the studio, as detailed in documented breakdowns online. The JTM50 "Black Flag" is a true piece of rock and roll history! It also comes with a heavy-duty road case.
