These amps don’t show up often, and it seems they were produced in fairly low numbers. You can think of this as a stripped-down, non-tremolo version of the Marshall 18W 1974 circuit, but in head form. The circuit is slightly different if you compare schematics.
Internally, two power resistors have been swapped, along with the cathode resistor cap for the EL84s. Also, 100 ohm screen grid resistors were added, which is a necessary addition for reliability. One bright cap was added across the blend resistor on one of the channels, but the rest of the preamp is original. See pictures for further details. The 8-ohm tap from the output transformer was also wired to the second speaker jack, with an embossed label added. This is a fantastic low-wattage amp that delivers a tone very reminiscent of a 20W version of a JTM45!
While fully functional, the buyer should note that this amp has all original electronics, including electrolytic caps that have long since expired. For optimal performance, whether for gigging or otherwise, servicing is recommended (cap job, etc.).
