Description

This 2006 Martin D-35 Johnny Cash Commemorative Edition (#2) is a distinctive tribute to The Man in Black, built with an Engelmann spruce top and East Indian rosewood back and sides. The Engelmann top offers a slightly softer attack with a rounder response, while the rosewood adds depth in the low end and clear, ringing highs. The three-piece back design contributes to a broad, open voice with strong bass presence and balanced projection across the range.

Finished in black, this model stands apart visually - star inlays and abalone accents - while retaining the familiar D-35 structure. The tonal character leans toward a warm, full low end with a smooth top, keeping note separation intact even with heavier attack. It remains a focused and well-defined example of a limited commemorative build with a unique aesthetic.
