This 2006 Shelly Park Maccaferri Custom draws inspiration from the Selmer-Maccaferri guitars that helped shape the sound of European jazz guitar in the 1930s, while incorporating the craftsmanship and attention to detail of a modern boutique build. The combination of a spruce top and ziricote back and sides gives the instrument a distinctive tonal character, blending quick response and projection with a rich overtone profile. Visually, the dramatic figuring of the ziricote adds a striking contrast to the guitar’s traditional design cues.
Shelly Park has earned a reputation among gypsy jazz players and acoustic enthusiasts for building instruments that capture the energy and responsiveness of vintage examples without simply replicating them. This guitar has the crisp attack and dry, percussive quality often sought in this style of instrument, making it equally compelling for rhythm work and single-note playing. A clear guard has been added to protect an area of picking wear on the top, and the guitar remains in very good condition overall.
Includes purple Calton case.
