Description

The CS-356 combines elements of Gibson's ES-335 and Les Paul designs in a compact semi-hollow format. Its smaller double-cutaway body is built with a maple top and back, mahogany center block and neck, and ebony fingerboard, while a pair of '57 Classic humbuckers provide the familiar Gibson PAF-style sound. The Sunburst finish highlights the figured maple top, with traditional four-knob controls and a three-way selector keeping the layout familiar. This 2009 Custom Shop example is a particularly versatile take on the 356 concept.
