This 2025 Gibson Custom Shop ’59 Les Paul Reissue pairs the familiar late-’50s platform with an Ocean Blue finish that gives the model a slightly different personality without straying too far from its roots. The figured maple top shifts noticeably under light, with the blue finish highlighting the carve and figuring in a way that feels closer to some of Gibson’s late-’80s and early-’90s custom color experiment. Underneath, it remains grounded in the details that have kept the model central to Gibson’s lineup for decades, including a solid mahogany body, long tenon neck joint, and Custombucker pickups.
The neck has the substantial profile expected from a late-’50s-inspired Les Paul, paired with the soft attack and midrange response associated with lightly wound PAF-style humbuckers. Hardware and plastics stay fairly restrained against the Ocean Blue finish, allowing the top and color treatment to carry most of the visual character.
