The Gibson F-5 remains one of the most recognizable mandolin designs ever produced, and this 1941 example comes from a particularly rare and collectible period. Finished in a timeless Gibson sunburst, it features the carved spruce top, figured maple body, and ornate appointments such as the fleur-de-lis headstock inlay. This example has received a refret, replacement nut, and a replacement pickguard, along with some light finish touch-up around the neck joint, while retaining the character of a well-preserved wartime instrument. The combination of vintage wear and careful maintenance gives this F-5 a well-kept but broken-in feel. In very good condition, it offers a glimpse into Gibson's golden era of mandolin production and the instruments that helped shape early American string music.
