This Lloyd Loar–signed F-5, dated February 18, 1924, is a notably clean and original example, retaining its factory Virzi and all the defining appointments of the period. The carved spruce top, flamed maple back and sides, and triple-bound body and headstock display only modest signs of handling, with light wear throughout. The instrument has received finish touch-up and overspray work, has been professionally buffed, refretted, and fitted with a replacement Randy Wood bridge. The original Loar-era bridge hardware, tailpiece cover, and tortoise-pattern pickguard remain intact, contributing to its authentic and highly cohesive presentation. Tonally, it delivers the unrivaled bell-like clarity, articulation, and power that have made Loar-signed F-5s the benchmark by which all mandolins are measured.
