This 1941 L-5C was owned by the legendary performer Ranger Doug, who bought it from Gruhn's in the '80s when his 1939 L-5 was stolen. Ranger Doug used this L-5C on and off for roughly 40 years.  At one point it was displayed in the Hard Rock Cafe. Given its open, loud, and warm sound, we can see why he chose it. It has a lot of wear and patina, but we consider this the character of a well loved guitar.
For Gibson, it doesn't get much fancier than an L-5. The torch inlay in the headstock, pearl fretboard blocks, gold tuners, and art deco tailpiece are from a bygone era. Even more so, the hand carved spruce top on maple back and sides is seldom attempted in workshops today.
