Description
This 1934 Martin 000-28 has a distinctive history of repair and restoration, including a shade top refinish that gives the guitar a particularly striking appearance. The Brazilian rosewood back and sides remain an important part of the instrument, while the compact 000 body and pre-war construction give it the character expected from an early Martin of this model. It has received a neck reset and refret, along with a replacement bridge and bridge pins, refinished neck, replacement tuners, and a shimmed fingerboard extension. There are several additional structural repairs, including a repaired neck block slip, a large cleat on a crack along the bass side of the fingerboard extension, repaired cracks and a gash on the treble-side lower bout, and plugged holes from previous hardware or pickup installations. The endpin hole has also been plugged, with evidence that the guitar previously had a soundhole pickup installed. It presents well with the refinish, while the visible repaired cracks and extensive repair history remain part of the instrument’s story. For a pre-war 000-28, the combination of age, Brazilian rosewood construction, and distinctive shade-top appearance makes this a particularly interesting example.
Includes modern TKL hard shell case.
