This 1967 Gibson J-160E is a classic slope-shouldered acoustic-electric closely tied to the folk and pop recordings of the 1960s. With its laminated spruce top, adjustable bridge, and P-90 pickup at the neck, the model occupies a unique space between flat-top acoustic and hollowbody electric guitar. The amplified response has the dry, slightly compressed character that helped make the J-160E a familiar sound on countless recordings from the era, while the acoustic voice remains warm and direct. This example has received a refret along with a replacement saddle and bridge pins, with the original parts included in the case. A previously installed strap button hole on the bass side shoulder has been plugged and lightly oversprayed. Cosmetically, the guitar shows heavy finish checking and condensation wear, along with some isolated light mildew spots.
Includes OHSC.
